We arrived yesterday after a long flight, a TGV (high speed train) from Paris and what was supposed to be a short car journey from Montbard to our cottage in Semur en Auxois (SeA) but we were let down by the Hetrz man. He obviously forgot to leave the car and key for us to pick up so we ended up on the bus and very wet after the walk to our cottage !! The lady who owns the cottage visited us later in the afternoon to make sure everything was ok so we are visiting her this afternoon for drinks.
The cottage is right beside the Armancon river which runs through the village. It is very small (Simon wouldn’t fit !!) but cute. The bed is on a mezzanine floor up a ladder. There is a garden beside the river complete with BBQ, outside table and herb garden so we are feeling very much at home.
This morning, after catching up on much needed sleep, we walked into the village for the Sunday market. We bought veges, fruit, local smelly cheeses, steak, wine and the local delicacy (Jambon Persilles which consists of cubes of ham pressed into a mould surrounded by green jelly of parsley and garlic (it might not sounds so but it was delicious). After stopping at one of the local bars for 2 carafes of wine we meandered home for lunch.
The wifi in the cottage isn’t working so we are back in the local bar so we can send this blog.
