Contact Phone Number

While we're overseas we will have a Travelsim mobile with us as the international mobile call costs from Telstra are too expensive. To call us from a mobile simply dial +37257173206. To call from a land line call the international exit code (e.g. 00 from NZ and 0011 from Aust) then 32757173206. Remember France is 8 hours behind Aust and 10 hours behind NZ.

Jeudi le 19e Mai (Thursday 19th)

Yesterday we went to Venarey, a small village about 12kms from here. It was market day but unfortunately the market was mostly old fashioned clothing, shoes, poultry cooped up in cages far too small and a few fruit and vege stalls. We visited a local supermarket where we bought a bottle of Chateauneuf de Pape for 8 Euros and some cabillaud (cod) for dinner. We returned home and spent the rest of the day exploring Semur en Auxoise. It is a beautiful town, much bigger than either of us imagined.
Today we decided to visit Saulieu which is supposed to have a market on Thursdays. Unfortunately, after walking in circles around the streets, trying to find the market, we did finally find the place it was supposed to be but IT WASN’T ON ! So much for the information sheet on markets, which we got from the Office d’Tourisme!! We had a look around the town, had a coffee, bought a few things (including an English newspaper for Chris and a lovely bikini for 11.15 Euros for Jan!).We returned home for lunch. Everything closes from 12 til 2pm here, while everyone eats lunch. This afternoon we will explore a bit more of Semur and find our usual cafĂ© to sit in while we publish this blog. It’s hard to feel stressed in a place like this.
Tomorrow, Friday, there is supposed to be a market at Montbard which is about 15 kms from here. Maybe it will be third time lucky – watch this space!!
As we publish this, we have "un grand orage" (thunderstorm) so it's just as well we are sitting in a cafe / bar!
Today's photos are from around our village and the photo with the small cottage amongst the bush is our cottage. We haven't figured out how to label the photos yet but I'm sure we will in time.
