Tonight we are in Paris having left Sablet this morning. We dropped the trusty Peugot off at the TGV station in Avignon and caught the TGV to Paris. It's only under 3 hours at approx 300km/hr and has proved to be a very comfortable way to travel. A taxi trip from Gare de Lyon to our apartment in the 6th arrondissment through the madness of Paris roads and we soon settled in again to #12 Notre Dame Des Champs. This is the 4th time we have stayed in this apartment and it is the perfect base for exploring Paris. It's on the 6th floor of the building and although there is an l'ascenseur (lift) it's only big enough for 2 people at a pinch without bags or one if you have a suitcase. Arriving and leaving often involve a number of trips to get everyone and all luggage up or down - part of the character of Paris apartment buildings.
After a drink at the corner bar Campbell left us to meet up with one of the French friends he made at Leeds Uni. Jan and I are now relaxing in front of the TV watching the Highlanders-Blues game from Friday. The weather in Auckland looks disgusting.
Tomorrow we intend visiting the organique market just around the corner in Boulevard Raspail to stock up on supplies.
