We’ve now arrived on the Cote d’ Azur and are settling in to life on the Riviera. Our apartment is high on the hill just behind Nice in a village called Haut de Cagnes which is part of Cagnes ser Mur. Our village is like a fairy tale setting with lots of tiny lanes the French call streets and is connected to the lower village by a road that must be on an angle of about 20 degrees. There’s a free shuttle bus that does the circuit so you don’t have to walk but as usual we decided to get groceries this afternoon and walk back up the hill – needless to say we don’t need to do calf exercises for about a month.
Just above the apartment there’s a village square surrounded by very nice looking restaurants and bars so of course we had to christen one of the bars to regain our strength after the walk up the hill.
We are now sitting on our balcony enjoying the view over the sea towards Antibes and Cannes (luckily the film festival finished last weekend however the grand prix is on at Monaco this weekend (Monaco is only about 50kms from where we are).
We’ve attached a couple of teaser photos but more will follow once we’ve had a chance to explore further tomorrow.
