Contact Phone Number

While we're overseas we will have a Travelsim mobile with us as the international mobile call costs from Telstra are too expensive. To call us from a mobile simply dial +37257173206. To call from a land line call the international exit code (e.g. 00 from NZ and 0011 from Aust) then 32757173206. Remember France is 8 hours behind Aust and 10 hours behind NZ.

5 June - Sablet, Seguret & Breakfast cereals Scorpions

Sunday 5th - Our first full day in Sablet!
Today we were accepted as "non strangers " in the bar, walked to Segueret, searched for the family of scorpians which are supposed to live in the garden, according to other guests who have rented this house and eaten another REALLY bad breakfast cereal!
Let me explain. Last time we were in Provence, Chris brought in a load of wood for the fire and as soon as he put the pile down, a large scorpian crawled out of it so when we read in the guest book that there were scorpians in the garden we felt suitably warned! (There is also a pair of thick gloves sitting in the basket for firewood). I went out to pick herbs to have with dinner but couldn't see any scorpians. I'm sure they will appear soon enough.
As for breakfast cereals - we have been here 3 weeks , shopped in some VERY large supermarkets and the only breakfast cereals we can find which don't contain chocolate, caramel (or raisins - I hate them!), are full of sugar, polystyrene fruit and taste like cardboard! Haven't they heard of simple toasted or plain muesli (without chocolate- yes they sell muesli with chocolate!) .
Back to touristy things - Seguret is one of the "beautiful" villages but afer getting lost on the walking track between Sablet and Segueret and ending up in the middle of someones vineyard - probably a very well known French Vineyard, Seguret was a bit disappointing. It had a large number of very good looking restaurants but not much else. It was one of those "pretend" villages which looks pretty but has no services for people who actually live in them. Sablet is a real village where people live, there are boulangeries (bakeries), a boucherie (butcher), a grocer, restaurants, florist, post office etc.
"Caves" are numerous around this area. They are cellar doors where the vignerons sell their wine. You can do a "degustation" which is a tasting and buy wine in large quantities i.e 5 - 22 litres.
Cote de Rhone rouge 79.35 Euros for 22 litres.
Tonight Chris cooked ? It was a bird of some sort, probably chicken but may have been quail (or pigeon) stuffed with something meaty! It didn't resemble the "fromage du tete" , translated as cheese of the head, which all the traiteur sell, so I'm sure it was nothing too strange! It was very rich but delicious. Chris wrapped it in jambon cru (a type of proscuitto) which kept it moist. The kitchen here is very well equiped so we will eat very well!
