Today we left Cagnes sur Mer, picked up yet another trusty Peugoet (black this time) and headed north west toward Provence. After an hour or so on the Autoroute (130 km speed limit) we paid the hefty toll (15 Euros) and took the smaller roads. We could see a huge storm approaching and as it was nearing the magic time of 12.30 (when EVERYTHING closes), we decided to stop in a small town for coffee and to buy food from the boulangerie for lunch. Just as we arrived, the rain started and as we settled in to drink our coffee, the thunder and lightening hit - the temp dropped from 28 to 16 in about 30 minutes ! After half an hour it had stopped enough to carry on our merry way. About 15 - 20 minutes further on, the traffic slowed down and we started to notice debris from trees on the streets. A little further on, there was hail all over the ground (looked like snow), branches down and in one place, a tree across half of the road! We must have been really lucky to have decided to stop when we did!
We finally arrived at Sablet late this afternoon and are now settled into our new abode. Each place we go to seems to get bigger! This house is beautiful. It has 2 bedrooms with ensuites (Campbell is coming to stay next week), a wonderful kitchen, separate lounge and a lovely small garden area complete with BBQ (this one does cook steak properly!)
