This morning it was an early start (for us anyway). Jan went down to the local boulangerie for croissants for breakfast before we headed off to Bedoin, which is a small village below the Dentelle mountain range, for their weekly market. This area is very popular for cyclists who want to pretend they are on the Tour de France (the main mountain climb on the Tour is Mt Ventoux which is very close to here). The roads are hardly wide enough for 2 cars to pass let alone throwing cyclists into the mix ! Needless to say driving here has it's challenges especially when every French driver seems to think they are Michael Schumacher.
The market was amazing and spread right through the village. The range of veges, cheese, bread, soap, pottery, spices, fish, meats, olives etc was unbelievable. It's a a very easy way to while away an hour or so along with a coffee at the local bar.
After leaving Bedoin we meandered our way via the back roads to Sablet via Caromb where we had a pub lunch of goat cheese salad. On the way we visited Le Barroux which is another of the many picturesque hillside villages in this area. It is overlooked by a well preserved 12th century chateau.
