Today we had yet another rekaxed day! We had a leisurely breakfast and then headed to Pernes les Fontaine in time to catch the end of the market. After stocking up on supplies such as olives, raspberries, veges, langoustines and trout, we headed for Carpentras and because it was 12 o'clock, we had to go somewhere for lunch. As mentioned previously, everything closes from about 12.30 until 2.30 so lunch is the only thing you can do!
We had a wonderful dejeuner (lunch) of farci , tomate, champignon and aubergine accompanied by a pichet of vin rouge.
After lunch we wandered around the old streets of Carpentras and discovered a wedding (see photo).
We stopped off at the Chocolatier to get a few hand made chocolates for dessert then came home.
On our way home we stopped off at the local wine Co-op and joined the locals by buying our wine "in bulk"! We tried to buy it from a "hose" but didn't have our own container so had to settle for the next best thing - a BIB!! This is a bag in box!! Yes it is a "goon"!!! BUT it is filled with Gigondas Vin Rouge!
Langoustines pan fried with garlic and white wine as an entree to oven baked trout was tonight's dinner accompanied by the last of our "Les Riche Heures" Gigondas wine and a lovely Cotes de Ventoux.
I must also mention that our local patron shouted us our first round of drinks at the bar tonight!
NB - No history lesson today, this is Jan's turn!
